"Alone"

This is another one of those scenes I have painted numerous times, always, of course, varying it in some way. The mood and coloring is quite different in this one from any I have done before.

People who know me well think this is a self-portrait. Since Polly died I often go fishing alone. I suppose that’s where the title came from but nothing more. It was inspired by two old duffers trying to get their fishing boat running and underway at Peshtigo Harbor, Peshtigo, Wisconsin. I decided it was much more interesting to compose it with only the lone old man.
