"Ephemerella Dorothea" I do more fly fishing for trout these days than I do plugging for Bass but it is still a great thrill when one of these lunkers explodes on a top water bait. The inspiration for this one came over 10 years ago while having coffee in the Minnow Bucket Restaurant on Lake Fork down in Texas. The State record Bass (at that time) was mounted and hanging on the wall. All I had with me was a felt tip pen. I made the sketch on a napkin. Several years later I did a number of paintings based upon that sketch…some with a plug being flung free, some with a plastic worm. In all the paintings the bass won the battle and was free from the fisherman’s lure. That is often my experience.
