"Road To Ed's Place" There is a place I go, far back in the woods. My favorite trout stream is there, near my friend Ed’s cabin. The drive into the cabin is always beautiful and sometimes has the added benefit of a black bear or eagle or one of God’s other magnificent creatures. I often think, next time I will have to bring my paints and brushes, but when next time comes I remember that I can paint at home but I can’t catch brook trout there. I settled for a photograph and painted this at home, taking some liberties but not many. My tiny studio has a window in front of my drawing board. I usually paint on the drawing board, seldom on an easel. The day I did “Road to Ed’s Place” I could look out that window toward the Bay of Green Bay and witness an honest to goodness real life blizzard. With a blizzard in progress and an old photo taken mid day in June, I painted what you see here. |
